[F]oodie TV presenters Si King and Dave Myers, better known as The Hairy Bikers have both been confirmed as the co-hosts of the Cumbria Family Business Awards 2019.
Cumbrian Dave Myers hosted the first ceremony in 2017 and was due to reprise his role in 2018 when ill health prevented him from appearing. Thankfully his friend and co-presenter Si King stepped in. The dynamic duo, known for their humour and down to earth nature will be hosting the ceremony together on Friday 8th March 2019 at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa, Windermere.
Janett Walker of Flock PR and Events explains why they have chosen the charismatic pair: “Separately, both have been superb hosts; funny, warm and bringing a real sense of occasion to the night. Si King and Dave Myers both love this area and have a real passion for family run businesses, especially the foodie ones! They have both spoken to us about how much they enjoyed being a part of the Cumbria Family Business Awards, saying it’s not like any others they’ve been too. It was an easy decision to ask them to return together and we are really looking forward to welcoming them back.”
On arrival, The Hairy Bikers will be greeted by Cumbrian family business Hawkshead Relish, whose founders Maria and Mark Whitehead will also be hosting them throughout the evening.
The Cumbria Family Business Awards will be open for applications from midnight 11th October after its formal launch at The Family Business Conference. Businesses which have two or more family members playing an active role will be eligible to enter, and four free workshops are being held to help those thinking of applying.
The awards themselves are a collaborative initiative created by Sue Howorth of The Family Business Network and Sophia Newton and Janett Walker of unconventional PR and events company, Flock.
The Cumbrian business community have given the awards their full support including key event sponsors Lamont Pridmore and Enterprise Answers as well as a wealth of well-respected businesses.
Fifth generation family business Pioneer Food Services were crowned the Outstanding Cumbria Family Business of the Year 2018. They also went on to pick up national awards alongside a record breaking five other Cumbrian family businesses at the national Family Business of the Year Awards held in London.
Applications close on 17th January 2018, family businesses looking to apply should visit the website www.cumbriafamilybusinessawards.uk for more information.
