Two hurt in Carlisle flat blaze

At 11:09pm yesterday, Thursday 9 August firefighters were called to a fire in a first floor flat on Newtown Close, Carlisle.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and treated two casualties for smoke inhalation, before handing them into the care of paramedics.”

At 7:24pm yesterday firefighters were called to a fire at a commercial building on Botchergate, Carlisle.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The fire was in a disused shop and crews used a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to put out the fire.”
