[A]t 2:10pm yesterday, Saturday 11 August firefighters were called to a house fire in Langdale Drive, Cockermouth.
Four fire engines from Workington, Whitehaven, Maryport and Keswick attended the incident, which was confined to the bedroom of a first floor flat.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “One casualty suffered with smoke inhalation and was passed to the care of paramedics.
“Crews used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
“They also rescued three kittens from the property.
“They were in attendance for three hours and 20 minutes.”
