Firefighters tackling Whitehaven telegraph pole fire

At 10:36am today, Monday 13 August firefighters were called to reports of a telegraph pole on fire in a field off South View Road in Whitehaven.

On arrival the crew from Whitehaven Fire Station discovered a wooden electricity pole well alight.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters are monitoring the fire from a safe distance.

“Electricity North West are in attendance.”
