[R]ock fans are preparing for a night to remember as legends Status Quo prepare to take the stage at Mintbridge, the home of Kendal Rugby Club.
The famous four piece will play to an expected crowd of 4000 people at Mintbridge, on Shap Rd, on Monday 27 August.
Steven Whitehead, director of rugby, said he hoped the concert would be the first of many at the venue, which KRUFC moved to in September.
He said: “The process of bringing Status Quo to Mintbridge began 18 months ago as part of an overall strategy to develop the new site into a venue capable of hosting a multitude of exciting events.
“We are massively excited to have such a big name playing at the club. We have all put a lot of work into making sure this is a venue with the highest quality facilities and a real asset for the whole community to use and enjoy – whether they are rugby fans or not.
“A big event like this attracts people from all over the region and it’s fantastic to have the opportunity to be able to showcase what we have on offer here at Mintbridge. For many of those who come, it might be the first time they have visited, but our job is to make sure it’s not the last!”
Tickets for the concert have been selling fast and Steve said it was a fantastic chance for the club to showcase the high class food and drink and health facilities it has to offer.
The club is open to the public for lunch throughout the week and for drinks every evening, as well as being available for hire for conferences and events. It also has a state-of-the-art gym and all weather outdoor sports pitches with physiotherapy, podiatry, personal training and a range of other services available on site.
Steve said: “Looking ahead, we want to continue welcoming people to Mintbridge so they can make the most of it as a high class community venue that helps keep people in Kendal and nearby healthy, happy and well-fed!”
Status Quo at Mintbridge will be presented by Rock on Kendal and supported by performers Jake Morley, Massive Wagons and Storm.
The event is sponsored by Kendal independent financial advisers and stockbrokers MacBeth Scott and Co.
