Firefighters tackle Appleby straw baler fire

At 6:17pm yesterday, Friday 31 August firefighters from Appleby and Penrith were called to a straw baler and straw on fire in Appleby.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews used one hose reel and beaters to extinguish the baler and approximately 110 square metres of straw.

“The crews were in attendance for approximately one hour.”
