Firefighters tackle M6 van fire

At 11:04pm yesterday, Wednesday 5 September fire crews from Penrith, Carlisle East and Carlisle West responded to a vehicle fire on the hard shoulder of the M6 just south of J41.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews used two breathing apparatus and two horse reels to extinguish the fire.

“Highways agency closed the 1st lane of the motorway to ensure crew safety whilst dealing with this incident.”
