A MAN must sign the sex offenders’ register after he admitted making illegal advances towards a person he thought was a teenage girl.
When he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court, Marc Anthony Maisey pleaded guilty to two offences.
Maisey, 34, admitted charges of attempted sexual communication with a child aged under 16, and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.
The court heard his criminal conduct was committed between July 11 and August 9. It is said he believed the person with whom he was communicating was a 13-year-old girl – but was actually not.
Maisey’s case was adjourned by Judge James Adkin, who ordered the probation service to prepare a pre-sentence report. This will look into the defendant’s background, and his offending.
Maisey, of Parkside, Crosby, Maryport, was remanded in custody, and is due to be sentenced at the crown court on October 9.
Judge Adkin told him: “I am not making any promises as to what your sentence will be. All options (including custody) are available to the court.
In view of his guilty pleas, Maisey heard he must now sign the sex offenders’ register.
