Man arrested after woman found dead at property in Oldham

A man has been arrested after a woman was found dead at a property in Oldham.

Shortly after 8.45pm on Wednesday 26 September 2018, police were called by the ambulance service to an address on Acorn Close in Chadderton to reports that a woman had fallen.

Officers attended and a woman – believed to be in her 40s – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 54-year-old year old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Kenny Blain of GMP’s Oldham Borough, said: “This is an incredibly tragic incident and our thoughts and sympathies are with the family of the woman at this time.

“There are officers currently on the scene and they will be continuing their investigations throughout the day.

“If anyone has any information that could help with this investigation I would urge them to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
