Thomas Noakes

The family of a man who died in a city centre hotel room has paid tribute to him.

Shortly after 5.30am on Wednesday 26 September police were attending an incident at the Britannia Hotel on Portland Street, when they discovered a 29-year-old man in a hotel room.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A GMP spokesman said: “He has been formally identified as 29-year-old Thomas Noakes from Eccles.

“Detectives launched a murder investigation into Thomas’ death and enquiries are ongoing.”

Paying tribute to him, Thomas’ family said: “Thomas was a fantastic, amazing, loveable man who made us all laugh and was always the life and soul of the party.

“He was a much loved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

“It is with great difficulty that his friends and family have to say goodbye to someone who touched so many lives, and was loved by everyone he met.

“He will be missed so much but never forgotten for the fun, loving and caring person that he was.”

The man who fell from the hotel has been formally identified as 21-year-old Hayden Fitzpatrick.

A GMP spokesman said: “There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.”
