Biker flown to hospital after A685 crash at Kirkby Stephen

A road traffic collision in Kirkby Stephen this afternoon closed the A685 in both directions.

The collision was reported to police by NWAS at around 1pm and involved a Citroen car and a motorbike.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The motorcyclist, from Lancashire area, has been taken to Cumberland Infirmary by air ambulance.

“The extent of his injuries are not known at this time but not believed to be life-threatening.”

The A685 reopened at around 4.20pm.
