On Saturday the 22nd September Cumbria Constabulary hosted a Charity Ladies Day in aid of Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, their chosen charity. The afternoon event involved afternoon tea provided by Applegarth Food, a ‘swishing’ event, stalls and entertainment.
The event was hosted by a number of volunteers at the Cumbria Headquarters, Carleton Hall, and was attended by nearly a hundred people. The event was a huge success and raised over £2650. The money will go to supporting Jigsaw with providing day to day care, support and activities to children and young people across Cumbria living with a life limiting illness.
The event was attended by Chief Constable Michelle Skeer, who said about the event: “It was a fantastic day, I cannot praise the efforts of all of the volunteers and those who donated to the event enough.
“Our work isn’t just about policing Cumbria, it’s also about supporting our community. Jigsaw provide a vital service to our community when people find themselves in the unthinkable situation of needing their support.
“It was great to see everyone come together in fun and laughter to raise such a substantial amount for our chosen charity, the team are working hard on the next fundraiser and I am looking forward to getting involved again.”
Superintendent Vicki Ellis said: “Our Ladies Day was the first event of this kind that we have held for a charity and I was overwhelmed by the amazing response and support it received.
“Jigsaw is a fantastic charity and we want to do everything we can to support them. This event was ran by volunteers and we have all put in a lot of thought as well as time and effort to make the event a success.
“The rooms looked amazing, the food was outstanding and everyone had a blast!”
Superintendent, Sarah Jackson Said: “I would do it all again tomorrow if I could! What a brilliant day and we still have clothing from the Swishing event up in HQ for donations so the fundraising hasn’t stopped yet!
“The work Jigsaw does is phenomenal, supporting such a worthy cause makes all the hard work worthwhile. I would like to thank all the businesses, companies and individuals who donated to the event, it was a real team effort and we couldn’t have achieved it without you.”
Natalie Bingham, Corporate Relationship Co-ordinator, at Jigsaw said, “On behalf of everyone at Jigsaw we would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who attended the Ladies Day. The generosity and kindness of everybody who attended on the day will help to Pay For a Day of Jigsaw Care, with one day of care costing £2,126.46.
“The money raised really will help to make a huge difference to the care, support and activities we are able to provide to children and young adults with life limiting illnesses across Cumbria.”
