Firefighters tackle large blaze in Irthington

At 2:42am today, Saturday 13 October four fire engines from Carlisle West, Brampton, Longtown and Gretna along with an aerial appliance and support pump from Carlisle East were mobilised to an outbuilding fire on Lane End Road, Irthington.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Fire crews found three buildings to be well alight on arrival and used the aerial appliance as a water tower to extinguish the fire.”
