Firefighters tackle Workington blaze

At 4:47pm yesterday, Thursday 18 October two fire engines from Workington and Maryport attended a report of a building fire on Newlands Lane South, Workington.

This was a fire involving a disused single storey building

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The fire was extinguished using four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two thermal imaging cameras and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

“Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and forty minutes.”
