The A66 has reopened following a serious road traffic collision involving a car and a heavy goods vehicle at Stainburn.
Cumbria Police were called at around 7.20am this morning (22 Oct).
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Cumbria Fire and Rescue and NWAS are also at the scene.
“There is only believed to be one casualty at this time, the male driver of a Ford Focus car.
“The road is likely to remain closed for much of this morning.”
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 7:19am on 22nd October 2018, two fire engines from Workington and Maryport attended a road traffic collision on the A66 at Stainburn in Workington.
“The incident involved a car and a heavy goods vehicle.
“Firefighters used one breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for one hour and twenty minutes.”
