Bomb disposal team called to Appleby

Police and bomb disposal team at the scene

Police have cordoned off a back garden on Chapel Street, Appleby, following a report at 12.14pm today of old shells being discovered in the ground.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Neighbours have been alerted.

“The MOD has been contacted and a team of experts from Catterick are to attend.”
