Two men await sentence for raft of crimes near Carlisle

Carlisle Crown Court

TWO men are to be sentenced by a judge next month after they admitted a number of offences, including a commercial burglary.

Carl Keith Millar, 21, and 27-year-old James Moray Broughton appeared at Carlisle Crown Court over two separate video links from custody this morning (MON).

Millar and Broughton both admitted the burglary of a business premises in the Cotehill area near the city, between October 2 and 5.

Both men also admitted the aggravated taking of a Citroen Picasso vehicle, which was used to cause damage to barriers at that premises on October 3. They each admitted stealing power tools on that date from a named male. Millar further admitted stealing two bottles of wine – and Broughton one – belonging to the Golden Fleece.

Judge Andrew Jefferies QC adjourned the case. Broughton, of Dunmallett Rigg, Carlisle, and Millar, of no fixed address, are due to be sentenced at the crown court on December 7.

In the meantime, both men were remanded in custody by Judge Jefferies.
