This Sunday’s Armistice Day (11 November) saw around 120 hardy swimmers take the plunge in Ullswater to raise funds for a variety of good causes.
A large crowd of spectators gathered to see the bathers enter the water from the banks of Park Foot Caravan and Camping Park in Pooley Bridge near Penrith.
Despite the 10C temperature of the water and the slightly choppy conditions, the swimmers completed their dip to cheers from onlookers.
The event was arranged by Lake District resident Graham Sutton who is the driving force behind “Swim on the Wild Side” which organises such events across the country.
