Sally Fielding, director of Cumbrian holiday cottage letting agency, Sally’s Cottages, has won the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award at the Natwest Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2018, Northern Region.
The award, announced at a Gala Evening at the Old Trafford football ground on the 15th November, celebrates the individual who ‘leads the charge’ by getting things done in their business, taking on and overcoming challenges, and who has a strong work ethic.
With 3,000 entries overall and 70 shortlisted candidates in the North alone, the competition was tough. In the end, there were only 12 winners, who will now be entered into the National Awards to compete with other business individuals from across the country.
Sally first set up Sally’s Cottages 15 years ago with one holiday cottage in Eskdale and a £1,000 investment. The company, which is still family-run, is now the Lake District’s largest independent holiday cottage agency and continues to be recognised for its growth and excellent customer services. Sally’s Cottages has also been shortlisted for the British Travel Awards 2018 – in which it has been awarded Silver over the past three years – and is looking forward to hearing the results at a glamorous awards ceremony at the end of the month.
“There’s so much work and determination that goes into setting up a new business,” comments Sally, “and it was amazing to meet so many dedicated people at the awards. I hope that this award encourages budding entrepreneurs in Cumbria to follow their ambitions and to create new opportunities both for themselves and others in the region. The hard work is definitely worth the benefits of seeing your business grow.”
Sally joins an impressive collection winners of the Natwest GB Entrepreneur Awards including James Watt of BrewDog UK and David Buttress of JustEat UK.
