A man has been jailed for eight years for non-recent indecent assaults on two children.
Alan Wilson, aged 69, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today (23rd November) for three counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 and one count of indecency on a child.
Wilson, of Coombefield Road, Wickhamford, Evesham, Worcestershire, was brought to justice following a report made in early 2017 about what had occurred in the 1970s.
He pleaded guilty to the four offences at an earlier hearing.
Detective Constable Sarah Edgar, North Cumbria Crime and Safeguarding Team, said: “Alan Wilson is a sexual predator who targeted children to assault for his own gratification.
“He has rightly been brought to justice for crimes that occurred decades ago.
“I would like to praise the bravery of the victims in this case for disclosing what happened to them and for their strength they have shown throughout our investigation.
“I would like to reiterate our commitment to investigating thoroughly any reports of sexual abuse – whether recent or non-recent. I would urge anyone who has been subject to offences of this nature to come forward. You will be listened to.”
