Officers investigating a robbery in Carlisle during which a taxi was stolen have charged two Carlisle men.
Police were called at around 5.45am yesterday (11 Dec) to a report of a knife-point robbery of a taxi in the Wigton Road area, near to B&M Bargains.
The taxi, a white Skoda Octavia was subsequently found burnt out and abandoned in the Cummersdale area.
Two men, both aged in their 20s were subsequently arrested after being found in the Dalston area.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “James Thompson, 23, of Highfield Avenue, Carlisle, has been charged with robbery, arson and possession of a knife.
“Lexie Elliott, 22, also of Highfield Avenue, Carlisle, has been charged with robbery and arson.
“Both men are due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this morning (12 Dec).”
