Eden District Council’s main offices in Penrith, the Town Hall and Mansion House will close on Monday 24 December 2018 at 4pm and will reopen at 8:45am on Wednesday 2 January 2019. An out of hours duty officer will be available during the holiday period to deal with any emergencies by calling: 01768 212499.
Blue Bags Refuse Collection
Some refuse collection days are being brought forward on the run into Christmas. If you would usually have your Blue Bags collected on a Monday (24 December Christmas Eve), this collection has been brought forward to Saturday 22 December. Also on Tuesday (25 December, Christmas Day) collections are being brought forward to Monday 24 December (Christmas Eve). For details of all amended collections see table below:

Recycling
Please make sure and check your recycling calendar for the dates for when your kerbside green bag and box collections are taking place over the Christmas period. Or visit the Council’s website and use your property’s postcode to view your recycling calendar online.

Local Land Charges Searches
Due to the closure of Council offices between 25 December 2018 and 1 January 2018 any searches we receive after 10 December may not be returned until after 2 January 2019.
Homelessness
If you become homeless over the Christmas period please telephone Eden Housing Association’s emergency out of hours service on 0800 061 4232 or 01768 861400.
Stray dogs
If you find a stray dog over the Christmas period please telephone the Out of Hours number 01768 212499.
Reclaiming your stray dog
Owners can reclaim their stray dog from a Community Warden on the following days:
- Thursday 27 December 2018, between 10am and 12noon only
- Monday 31 December 2018, between 10am and 12noon only
A Community Warden will arrange a time with an owner for the return of the dog. Owners will have to pay before we return their lost dog to them.

The sole responsibility for protection of private property in the event of a flood lies with individual owners and not the District Council or any other Agency.
