Pedestrian seriously injured in Carlisle hit-and-run

Cumbria Police are appealing for information as officers investigate a fail-to-stop road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

The collision occurred at around 4.50am on Boxing Day (26 Dec) in Ferguson Road in Carlisle.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “A man in his 20s from Carlisle was knocked down by a car and subsequently taken to the Cumberland Infirmary where he remains in a stable condition having suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

“The car believed to be involved in the collision – a blue Ford Mondeo – was recovered later that morning nearby.

“Officers are continuing their efforts to trace the driver of the Mondeo and would like to hear from anyone with information which could assist.”
