Windermere Lake Cruises is holding a special recruitment open-day in February before a major recruitment drive begins, with the aim of filling around 100 summer job roles ahead of the peak holiday season.
Traditionally over the warmer months, the demand on Cumbria’s most popular attraction means staff numbers must be boosted to around 170 to help cope with the annual 1.6 million passenger journeys. This year, a variety of customer service roles are available from March right through until November at the attraction’s Bowness, Ambleside and Lakeside piers.
Anybody interested in taking a summer role with Windermere Lake Cruises is being invited to find out more before applying, by attending an open-day at Bowness Piers, Lake Road, in Bowness between 12pm and 4pm on February 24.
The fixed-term seasonal contracts will span a range of job roles including front of house positions in cafes, shops, information centres and ticket offices, as well as filling the need for more crew members on board the fleet of historic ‘steamers’, waterbuses and traditional wooden launches.
HR Manager at Windermere Lake Cruises, Ian Wilkinson, says, “Higher demand over the summer means we have a lot more jobs to fill than during the colder months. At the moment we’ve got staff ranging from as young as 17 years old right through to people in their 70s – many of whom love working, despite having retired. We’re holding this open-day for the first time, so people can get a taste of the jobs available before deciding whether to apply. We’re looking forward to meeting our potential new colleagues who like the idea of spending the summer working on England’s biggest lake. I can’t think of a better place to earn some money!”
You can register your interest online here or by calling 015394 433 60. Those interested in attending the open day are also welcome to turn up on the day without booking a place.
Refreshments will be provided. Details of job roles will be made available closer to the event.
