At 12:01am today, Wednesday 23rd January four fire engines from Penrith, Kendal, Sedbergh, Staveley and the water bowser from Penrith attended a fire involving a heavy goods vehicle on the M6 Northbound.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters used three breathing apparatus and one compressed air foam branch.
“Crews remained in attendance for approximately eight and a half hours.”
The northbound exit slip road at J37 remains closed this morning.
