Armed police deployed in Carlisle search

Police have conducted investigative enquiries at several addresses in Carlisle this evening (January 27).

Enquiries, which were supported by the precautionary deployment of armed officers, took place in the Petteril Bank area.

The enquiries follow a report earlier in the evening, of suspicious activity in the area of Lightfoot Drive. It was later reported to police that an offensive weapon may have been seen.

No arrests were made and there was no perceived threat to the wider public throughout these enquiries.
