Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision that occurred today (28th January) at approximately 6:30am involving a pedestrian and a van at Esso, Bridge Lane, Penrith.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The pedestrian a man in his 60’s was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Newcastle in a serious condition.
“The van driver a 66-year-old man from Wigan suffered no injuries.
“The entrance to the forecourt is closed while officers conduct their investigations.”
Two BEEP Fund Doctors were called to the incident at 6:55am.
A BEEP Fund spokesman said: “Advanced medical interventions were performed before the casualty was transferred by land ambulance to hospital.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage at the time of the incident is asked to contact police quoting log 22 of 28th January 2019.
