Roadworks on Egremont Main Street to commence next week

Cumbria County Council’s highways team will be carrying out resurfacing works on Egremont Main Street, commencing from Wednesday 6 February for four days, subject to suitable weather conditions.

A Cumbria County Council spokesman said: “The works require the road to be closed during the day, and access will be restricted for vehicles on Chapel Street, Ehen Court Road and Main Street during the works. Local residents and businesses have been made aware of this, and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

“The bus stops along the route from the A595 St Thomas Cross along Main Street to North Road will be suspended during the works.

“The council has consulted with Stagecoach and they have advised that the alternative bus stops will be to the north of Egremont at A595 Jubilee and A595 Cemetery bus stops. This information has also been circulated by Stagecoach and posters at the affected stops have been in place since Friday 25 January to inform passengers.

“We apologise for any inconvenience the works may cause.”
