A local Noel Gallagher tribute act, along with a very special guest, will be playing at Whitehaven Solway Hall on Friday the 15th February.
After two sellout shows at Rosehill Theatre and The Yellow Earl, Whitehaven band “AKA…The Music of Noel Gallagher” will bring their Oasis/Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds show to The Solway Hall in Whitehaven.
Support on the night comes from West Cumbria’s finest bands The Northern Threads, Springfield and Reptilians.
“We initially set the band up as a one off charity event for Macmillan Cancer Support” said Mark Rothery, guitarist and lead singer of the band.
“After the success of the first gig though, and how much we enjoyed playing together, we decided that we would carry on playing and see if there was much demand for it.”
Their second outing, another sell out at The Yellow Earl in Whitehaven, confirmed to the band that there was a demand, and from there the Solway Hall gig was born.
In addition to a night filled with Oasis/High Flying Birds hits, legendary Oasis collaborator Brian Cannon will be running a pop-up shop at The Solway on the day of the gig. Brian was responsible for the creation of the iconic Oasis logo, and has done numerous photo shoots/videos with the band including album covers for Definitely Maybe, What’s The Story (Morning Glory) and Be Here Now. The pop up shop, manned by Brian, will sell limited edition Oasis/Liam Gallagher/The Verve (amongst others) prints and artwork.
“A good friend of the band is close with Brian, and we were gobsmacked when he agreed to run the pop-up shop” said Mark. “Brian runs art exhibitions all over the world, and is synonymous with Oasis throughout their heyday,so to get someone as close to the band to agree to come up to Whitehaven was incredible.”
