Five people have been arrested as part of an operation conducted this morning in the Workington area.
Three addresses were visited by officers as part of enquiries concerning a male suspect wanted for GBH and possession of an offensive weapon.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Armed officers were deployed as a precaution to the warrants at addresses on Casson Road, Newlands Gardens and an address in Great Clifton.
All cordons have now been removed.
“There was no perceived threat to the public at any point during this morning’s operation.
“Police would like to thank the public for their patience.”
The five arrested were:
- A 38-year-old man, from Liverpool, who was arrested on suspicion of assault GBH, two counts of possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled drug.
- A 38-year-old man, from Workington, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
- A 36-year-old woman, from Workington, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
- A 27-year-old woman, from Liverpool, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and failing to appear at court.
- A 17-year-old female, from Workington, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
