Firefighters tackle Burthwaite barn fire

At 4:41pm yesterday, Tuesday 19 February three fire engines from Carlisle East, Carlisle West and Penrith attended a commercial property on Newbiggin Road South, Burthwaite, Wreay, Carlisle.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The fire involved one horse lorry inside a barn.

“Crews used two breathing apparatus, one jet and one hosereel jet.

“Crews were detained approximately three hours.”
