Police are investigating a serious road traffic collision which occurred on Steel Brow in Frizington.
Emergency services were called at 4:35pm on Tuesday 26 February.
A red Seat Leon was in collision with a silver Nissan X-Trail.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The driver of the Seat, a 20-year-old local man was airlifted from the scene to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle having suffered serious injuries.
“A 17-year-old male passenger also suffered injuries and was flown to the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough although he has now been discharged.
“A 53-year-old female driver of the Nissan, who was also from the local area was taken to hospital by land ambulance suffering a limb injury.
“The road was closed for collision investigation work which took place throughout the evening.”
