Chocolate bar theft costs Carlisle man £203

A sweet-toothed Carlisle man has appeared in court and admitted stealing four-large chocolate bars from a city centre store.

Kevin James John Bigg, 34, of Howard Place, Carlisle, appeared from police custody and pleaded guilty to the theft when he appeared before District Judge Gerald Chalk, sitting in the Carlisle Magistrates Court.

Prosecutor Diane Jackson told the court how staff from the WH Smith store on English Street realised some limited edition Cadbury chocolate bars were missing on Wednesday, September 19.

Staff watched the stores CCTV images, and found that Bigg was seen taking chocolate bars without making payment.

Bigg was sentenced to a fine of £40, court costs of £85 plus a victims surcharge of £30, he has to pay compensation to the store of £48.
