A WOMAN will be sentenced next month after she admitted assaulting a man in Carlisle.
Lynn Margaret Ferguson, 41, faced one charge when she appeared at the city’s crown court earlier today (FRI).
Ferguson admitted assaulting Mark Conley, causing him actual bodily harm in Carlisle on August 4.
Mr Conley, the court heard, had received “two blows to the face”, and a “moderately serious injury”.
Judge James Adkin adjourned the case for Ferguson, of Randall Street, Carlisle, to speak with a probation officer ahead of sentence.
“You are a woman with very few convictions, certainly none for violence,” Judge Adkin said to the defendant.
“I am not thinking of sending you straight to prison.” But he added: “There does need to be some measure of punishment for causing the injuries to that man’s face.”
Ferguson is due to receive her punishment at the crown court on Monday of next week, and in the meantime was granted bail by the judge.
