Hoola hoop challenge on Lakeland fell

Visitors and friends of Elterwater Hostel took to the top of Loughrigg with hoola hoops on April Fool’s day.

They asked walkers who arrived at the summit of the fell (1099ft) to have a go at hoola hooping, while raising money for the Fix the Fells organisation.

“It was just a fun idea, but we were amazed that so many people were prepared to have a go” said hostel manager Nick Owen.

“Some of them were really good, even though most admitted they’d not hoola-hooped since they were at school.”

Fix the Fells tackles the problem of erosion problem by repairing and maintaining upland paths in the Lakes.
