A driver involved in a collision where a motorcyclist died has appeared at North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court Carlisle, today (Tues).
Ryan Stobart, 24, of Newlands House, Hesket Newmarket, faces an allegation that he caused death by careless / inconsiderate driving, on November 2nd 2017, while he was driving a Mercedes-Benz, A class car at Goosegreen Crossroads, Welton, without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road.
The allegation is that the car collided with a Yamaha motorcycle ridden by David Holden, aged 54 from Wigton, an air ambulance attended the scene, however Mr Holden suffered fatal injuries, the driver of the Mercedes was taken to hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
The collision occurred at around 8.10am on the Thursday morning on the B5305 Penrith to Wigton road close to the junction with the B5299, which runs between Welton and Calbeck.
No indication of a plea was entered today, Stobart elected to go to Carlisle Crown Court, to appear there on May 13.
