Police are appealing for witnesses following a report of dangerous driving on Monday 1st April on the A69 between Brampton and Carlisle at approximately 6:30pm.
The incident involved a silver Ford Focus and a white Ford Focus.
Any members of the public who witnessed these vehicles driving around this time or anyone with dashcam footage of the vehicles is asked to contact police.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Three males have been arrested for being involved in this incident and are currently released under investigation.
“A 35-year-old man from Carlisle was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and affray.
“A 33-year-old man from Brampton was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and affray.
“A 30-year-old man from Carlisle was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and affray.”
