Emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision on the A66 at Bridgefoot.
Police were called at approx 3:55pm.
The A66 was blocked between the A595 (Bridgefoot) to the Brigham turn-off while emergency services dealt with the scene.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 16:00 on 10th April 2019, two fire engines from Workington and one fire engine from Cockermouth were mobilised to a road traffic collision persons trapped.
“On arrival, firefighters confirmed that the incident involved two vehicles, one of which was a heavy goods vehicle.
“One casualty was trapped and firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate them.
“Crews were on scene for half an hour.”
All lanes have now reopened.
