A MAN who exposed himself to a woman and sent lewd photos to a schoolgirl has been sentenced by a judge.
Carlisle Crown Court heard how Martin Richard Lee’s two offences were committed around 18 months apart.
Lee, aged 36, had – while high on alcohol and cocaine – sent images of himself over social media to a 15-year-old female left “upset” by pictures she called “disgusting”.
As police investigated that incident, they learned of earlier criminal conduct by Lee. A young woman revealed he had exposed himself to her in an isolated location.
Lee admitted sexual communication with a child but had denied exposure. But he was convicted of that crime after a trial the victim attended. A prosecutor told how she called the court experience “one of the most frightening days of her life”.
Lee, of Hillersdon Terrace, Nenthead, had a previous conviction for indecent exposure. He was sentenced for his latest crimes by a judge who concluded no jail term would be long enough for rehabilitation work required by the defendant to take effect.
Recorder Tim Hannam QC instead imposed a 36-month community order. This includes a sexual offending treatment course and a three-month night-time curfew. Lee must also sign the sex offenders’ register, and follow the terms of a sexual harm prevention order, for five years.
