Following an incident outside the Throstle Nest public house on King Street in Wigton, a man appeared from custody at the magistrate’s court on Rickergate, Carlisle, today (Mon).
The alleged incident took at place approximately 10.23pm on Friday night, April 12, a man in his 20s suffered a serious facial injury caused by a knife, he was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and remains there in a serious but stable condition.
A female in her 40s was also taken to hospital suffering from a serious head injury, she has since been discharged.
Appearing in court was Scott Topping, 39, of Mulligans Court, Wigton, the allegations are he attempted to murder Robert Pattinson, an accusation of possession of a bladed article, a large black handled kitchen knife-in a public place, also alleged common assault on Lisa Dixon, with a further allegation of threatening Neil Dixon with bladed article in a public place, with an immediate risk of serious physical harm.
During the short hearing Topping spoke only to confirm his personal details, no-pleas were entered today.
Topping was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on May 20.
