Eden District Council’s Tourism Team in partnership with Rheged are hosting a free familiarisation workshop for Accommodation and TIC front of house/reception staff on Monday 29 April at the Rheged Centre. The idea behind the event is to help equip staff working in the accommodation sector with information about Eden so they are able to answer the diverse range of questions our visitors ask.
The discussions with attraction operators will help provide staff with up to date information about what there is to see and do in the Eden area, so they can in turn pass this on to their visitors. This also gives the attractions, activity and transport providers the opportunity to talk about any new developments and plans for the 2019 season.
“Eden is a fantastic holiday destination for visitors and the more we are able to provide them with the information they seek, the more they will be able to enjoy their holiday and make the most of their time here,” commented Jessica Goodfellow, Joint Tourism Manager at Eden District Council. “This is the first time we have held such an event and we are hoping that many of our accommodation staff will come along to the workshop and make the most of this opportunity.”
The workshop will start at 10:30 and run through until 13:00. There will be plenty of time for businesses to network during the refreshment break.
Jo Dunning-Thomas, Sales Manager at Rheged said: “We are thrilled to be working with Eden Tourism on this event. The area has such a wide range of interesting attractions we can all be proud of and this event gives us the platform to exchange information to share with visitors. It’s also a great way for local business owners to get to know each other, and work together in the promotion of Eden as an exciting place to visit.”
Eden’s tourism industry currently contributes £336.6m to the local economy and it is important that the value of the visitor economy continues to grow in what is a very competitive market place. Visitor expectations continue to rise and it is very important to provide the information required to encourage both staying, new and returning visitors.
If you are an accommodation establishment or TIC who wishes to attend/send staff to the workshop or an attraction provider who wishes to book a table please email [email protected] or Tel: 01768 212165 by Tuesday 23 April.
