A MAN will stand trial later this year after denying that he made threats to kill a woman and her mother.
Alexander James Keane, 28, faced four charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court over a video link.
One alleges the false imprisonment by Keane of Karen Johnston, against her will. A second alleges that he made a threat to Ms Johnston to kill her, intending that she would fear the threat would be carried out.
A third charge alleges that Keane made to Ms Johnston a threat to kill Elizabeth Reed, said in court to be her mother.
And a fourth alleges that he assaulted Ms Johnston, causing actual bodily harm.
During a short hearing in front of Judge Barbara Forrester, Keane pleaded not guilty to all four allegations, which date back to March 9.
His trial is due to start at the crown court in the week of July 3.
In the meantime Keane, of Macadam Gardens, Penrith, was remanded in custody by Judge Forrester.
