Driver killed in A68 crash

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision which occurred in Barrasford yesterday (Thursday April 18).

The collision, which involved a white Vauxhall Astra car-derived van, happened on the A68 near the entrance to Barrasford Quarry yesterday at around 2.40pm.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Emergency services attended but sadly the 47-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Specially-trained officers are currently supporting the man’s family through this difficult time.”

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who was in the area and might have dashcam footage to contact officers on either 101 quoting reference number 598 18/04/19, or by emailing [email protected] or [email protected].
