A woman who was injured in a road traffic collision on the A689 near Houghton has sadly died.
The collision occurred at approx 10:10pm on Friday 19 April.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Mrs Andrea King, 55, of Low Westwood, Newcastle was the driver of a Skoda Yeti car which was travelling westbound when it was in collision with an Scania HGV travelling in the opposite direction.
“The HGV driver, a 46-year-old man from the North East was uninjured.
“Mrs King was conveyed to hospital in Newcastle, where she died as a result of her injuries.
“Her family are aware.
“Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
“Mrs King’s family extend their thanks to all the emergency services and members of the public who assisted at the scene.”
The road was closed for approx 5 hours while collision investigators examined the scene.
