All Stars Cricket is back for 2019 across Cumbria

All Stars Cricket, one of the biggest children’s sport initiatives to be introduced in the UK, is back for 2019 at cricket clubs across Cumbria. The scheme is designed to provide a fun, inclusive and inspirational first taste of cricket for five to eight years olds, and over 30 of the county’s clubs have signed up to run this exciting programme starting from May 2019.

The nationwide initiative – which has been created by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) – enables children to acquire the skills to play the game and connect with England’s cricketing heroes. All Stars Cricket offers eight weeks of coaching in a safe and inclusive environment, with the focus on having fun and making friends.

All girls and boys are welcome, and each registered child will receive a pack of cricket goodies so that they can continue their love of cricket when they go home. The pack includes: a cricket bat, ball, backpack, water bottle, personalised shirt and cap. Children involved in previous year will receive a different kit including a set of stumps!

All Stars Cricket will support children to develop all the fundamental skills that they will need to play the game through lively, fun games.

Over the course of the eight-week programme, the trained activators will teach children to:

  • Catch and throw a ball
  • Hit a moving ball
  • Bowl with a straight arm
  • Play a basic game of cricket
  • Work and communicate as a team
  • Have lots of fun with new friends

All Stars Cricket is also fantastic for parents. For an hour each week all mums and dads are invited to get involved and play cricket with their children. This is a great way for families to spend time together and create memories that will last a lifetime.

All Stars will be running across the county at Appleby Eden CC, Arnside CC, Barrow CC, Burneside CC, Carlisle CC, Cartmel CC, Cleator CC, Cockermouth CC, Coniston CC, Dalton-in-Furness CC, Egremont CC, Furness CC, Haverigg CC, Ingleton CC, Kendal CC, Keswick CC, Kirkby Lonsdale Community, Kirkby Stephen CC, Lanercost CC, Lindal Moor CC, Millom CC, Netherfield CC, Patterdale CC, Penrith CC, Rockcliffe CC, Staffield CC, Threlkeld CC, Ulverston CC, Wetheral CC, Whitehaven CC, Wigton CC and Workington CC.
