Man accused of serious assault in Carlisle appears in court

A Romanian man appeared before District Judge Gerald Chalk sitting at Carlisle Magistrates Court charged with three-offences.

Marian Uciu, 37, of Scotby Close, Carlisle, appeared in court from custody flanked by dock security officers, the alleged offences took place at an address in Carlisle on April 29.

Uciu faces allegations of making threats to kill, and injuriously imprisoned Nicoleta Costea and detained her against will, also malicious wounding with intent to cause harm, and false imprisonment.

The accusation is a female was injured during a serious domestic incident, the victim was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle suffering from injuries to her arms and hands.

During the hearing Uciu spoke through an interpreter and entered no-plea to the allegations, he was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on June 3.
