First programme sees TV celebrity Rosemary Shrager experience ‘The Real Lake District’
Two Cumbrian businesses have come together to create a brand-new food-based TV series scheduled for release to a global audience. Keswick based award-winning TV station – Simply Good Food TV, which specialises in the creation and curation of compelling food programming, and award-winning media production company Adamedia – have pooled their talents to launch ‘A Taste of the Lakes’ on Amazon Prime.
The first episode in the series features celebrity guest, TV chef and personality, Rosemary Shrager.
By showcasing the programmes on Amazon Prime, the series has the potential to be seen by the UK’s 8 million subscribers. This is in addition to the massive world-wide audience spanning more than 200 countries and territories, which totals more than 100 million Amazon Prime subscribers around the globe.
They have also invested in Japanese subtitles due to the established relationship with the Lake District and Japan to help drive international awareness of the Northern Lakes District.
Presented by TV chef, baker, author and founder of Simply Good Food TV Peter Sidwell, A Taste of the Lakes provides the perfect setting for Peter to tour the outstanding Lake District countryside and showcase the wonderful local produce.
Commenting on the first episode, Adam Pearson, Director Adamedia, said “Building on previous work with Peter, the opportunity to also work with Rosemary has been amazing. We’re always thrilled to be able to creatively show-off the drama and beauty of the Lake District/Cumbria through our productions, it’s a unique setting, now recognised through its UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Apart from the majestic landscapes A Taste of the Lakes allows us to introduce many more intimate, lesser-known locations – perfect for Peter and his celebrity guests to discover through each episode.
The inaugural programme witnesses Peter’s culinary travels with fellow foodie Rosemary Shrager. Peter takes Rosemary on a whistle-stop tour of some of the stunning sights of the North Lakes, combining breath-taking scenery with opportunities to cook and feast on a selection of deliciously flavoursome dishes created using some of the Lake District’s finest ingredients.
Highlights of the programme include Rosemary cooking in Peter’s bespoke outdoor kitchen, a ‘Sound of Music’ moment at Castlerigg Stone Circle, and the culinary duo climbing Walla Crag and cooking a sumptuous lunch on top of the mountain.
Commenting on the new progamme Peter Sidwell, said, “We are extremely proud of the end result, which is the culmination of two relatively small local companies joining forces to create a quality TV series with the potential to be viewed by a sizeable global audience.
“For some time, I’ve wanted to create programmes that combined my two loves – the stunning local landscape and fantastic-tasting food prepared with the very best quality ingredients. This area is home to so many exceptionally talented businesses and A Taste of the Lakes provides a great platform to drive awareness of the Lake District’s commercial success stories.
“Rosemary and I go back a long way so it was wonderful to have the opportunity to show her the ‘Real Lake District’ and for us to share some special memories cooking up our favourite recipes on air.”
A Taste of the Lakes will air on 3rd MAY 2019 on Amazon Prime Video
