Firefighters tackle Askham blaze

At 12:53pm today, Sunday 5 May two Fire Engines from Penrith and one from Lazonby were called to a building fire near Askham, Penrith.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On arrival firefighters found a single story residence well alight.

“Four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire.

“Crews were in attendance approximately one hour.”
