Two people have been freed by firefighters after a two vehicle road traffic collision occurred near Kirkby Stephen.
Police were called today (May 6) at 4.04pm following a collision on the A685.
The A685 was closed in both directions between junction 38 of the M6 and the A66. The road may be closed for a while.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 4:06pm two fire engines from Kirkby Stephen and Sedbergh attended reports of a road traffic collision with persons trapped on the A685, Kirkby Stephen.
“Fire crews used Holmatro cutting gear to extricate two casualties and passed them to the care of paramedics and the air ambulance.
“Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and thirty minutes.”
