Windermere children’s shoe shop Little Brogues is to hold a free community event to celebrate National Walk to School Week on Tuesday 21st May at The Marchesi Centre.
Characters from famous children’s movies and TV shows will welcome the children and their parents as they arrive and enjoy a free breakfast and receive their goody bag.
At scheduled times the children will then set off to school with their kid’s TV character, classmates, friends, teachers and parents through the colourful start line. Children from all four local schools; St Martin’s & St Mary’s C of E, Goodley Dale C of E, St Cuthbert’s and Windermere School are participating in the Giant Walk to School.
Little Brogues owner Simon Dernie said: “Little Brogues has been welcomed into the community so warmly since we opened in 2017 and we wanted to give something back to say thank you. The Walk to School week is a fantastic initiative and what better way of encouraging children and parents to walk to school than by getting everyone together to do it all at once!”
Windermere based Simon Dernie’s award-winning shoe business has recently expanded beyond his online retail shop and Windermere store over the border into Yorkshire as he took over Shoe-Bee-Doo in Ilkley this April. If the Windermere event is successful it may become an annual community event for both counties. The Giant Walk to School event runs from 7:30am – 8:45am for more information visit Little Brogues on Birch Street Windermere or their social media pages.
